Project: Nurture Children through Focusing Community Development in 3 villages at Bargaon, Mandla District, Madhya Pradesh, India

Goal of the project: Community development with special focus on children.

 

Malnutrition is very prevalent in many Districts of Madhya Pradesh, specially in the tribal Districts like Mandla. Govt. has done a lot of work but has not yielded the result since it lacked an integrated approach. Community health is very much needed for individual health- this is the concept that motivated us to work for an integrated development program of the village giving special care to children, their health education and well being. So we envisage to get a development process which includes, health, education, formation of Community Based organizations and IGP programs for On-farm and Off-farm. This form of approach has been proved elsewhere in Mandla district as a successful model.

 

The target group includes 200 families of 3 villages of Bargaon Cluster in a local context that means:

This year there are several goals directly reached as there are: health check up for aganwandi-children,medical camps, women empowerment program, support to the ECC-children by: supplementorial nutritional food, immunization, pre-school education (tuïtion).

The JDSSS Director visits the area occasionally and gives guidelines and training. The Sister In-charge of the project looks after the day to day activities as planned for the year, with the support of the local community.

 

Total costs of this project  € 44,681.00 for five years, financed by Cordaid and Namasté India for 50% each.
