Project: Stitching Unit, Harratola, Mandla, Madhya Pradesh, India

At Harratola, the propose project area a Community Organization program was going on for the last few years. Under this program number of Women Self Help Groups are formed and are functioning well. They had been always discussing about some program by which they can build up their economic standard. So this project was envisaged, so that we can give them training in tailoring, other than giving direct financial help, so that they can earn their income by doing some work regularly. So with this project we plan to put up a Stitching unit which will initially train 25 girls, who will later train others as well as work in this stitching unit and earn their income as well as help the centre to earn some income for its maintenance too.

One stitching unit with 10 machines for various stitching will be established. 25 girls will be trained in the first year by two professional tailors and get additional income of Rs.1500.00 per month. The cooperative society of the place gets a profit of 10% for the dress materials produced through its sale.

The activities will result in a monthly profit of Rs.3000.00 for the centre.

25 women initially will be taught to stich petticoats, skirts, blouse, inner wears, banyans, salwar suits, trousers etc. In the next stage they can either start their own units or can continue stitching at the center where raw materials will be provided and finished materials will be sold out. The women who are engaged in the work will be remunerated. The profit earned, after remuneration will be shared by the center as well as of the Cooperative who will facilitate of finished goods.

The final goal of the project is to get financial self-dependency of the women of the project area.
