Project: Bridge Course for 25 drop out girls


The region the girls come from: Mandla and Dindori Districts of Madhya Pradesh, India. In India are tribals dominated. The economic condition of the people is very poor. The Agriculture here totally depends on rain which very erratic these days. So Migration is a common feature. People still struggle for their food security. Due to this fact Education of the children has not become a prime concern of the parents so far. Though the Govt. has come out with Right to Education, it will take a long time to realize all the aspects of this Bill. In this scenario dropping out from the school especially by girl children after fifth or eighth standard is a common feature. This leaves many girls, later women in the society, so vulnerable in the social structure. This project is envisaged to give an opportunity to such girls to come up to the main stream of the society. This project is proving a boost to the girls.

70% of the children go to school but not much study takes place in the school. Some of the children get involved in labour especially during summer holidays. The specific circumstances in the region the children are living:

- Poor educational standard of women.

- Women marginalized in the society.

- Health Condition of women not satisfactory.

- Food security of the region only 5-6 months.

- Agriculture totally depend on rain

- Communities are disorganized.

- Nutritional status of children and women is poor.

- Too many drop out from schools.

- Very poor health care system.

- Culturally rather rich.

 

Location of this project: Bichhiya, Mandla Madhya Pradesh, India

 

Start date: Regular every year from August to next year May

 

Drop out from schools, mainly girls was a common case. Due to which there are a number of girls who have not completed their metric and so not able to go further in any studies. This project gives an opportunity for these ill-fated girls to study and come up in life and society.

The projects includes a training for 20-25 drop out girls every year for appearing the tenth Standard exams. This is a residential course. Classes start from August and it continues till the exam. Which normally are hold in the month of May. They are also helped in various activities too to build up Namasttheir talents and personality.

 

Total costs of this project forthe course 2015/2016: € 14.300.00, financed by Cordaid, Stichting St. Anna and Namasté India together.
